Five Delectable Rum Cocktail Recipes

by admin

We all love cocktails and those delectable concoctions created using Rum are definitely to die for. Rum cocktails must be on your essential list of beverages whenever you want to impress anyone.
Rum cocktails are fun to make and taste delicious. But the problem is that there are so many recipes out there that you simply don’t know which ones to make and which ones to omit. This article sheds light on the different varieties of rum that you can use in cocktails and also some of the best rum cocktail recipes.
So, let’s first understand different types of rum used in cocktails:
Light Rum is created from molasses, which is aged for at least a year or two and then charcoal filtered. This process gives it that distinct smooth, crisp yet mild flavor.
White rum is made from white oak barrels that are distilled and then filtered to make it clearer. Usually, white rum doesn’t need to be aged, which is why it has an uncomplex profile with hints of vanilla and almond.
Golden is aged in ombre oak barrels. It has coffee and caramel base with hints of banana, almond and oak.
Dark rum or black rum is the heaviest of all in terms of flavor. It is aged in charred oak barrels for much longer than other varieties of rum. It has overtones of caramel and vanilla and gives a smoky, intense finish.
Let’s now discuss some interesting rum cocktail recipes:
2 ounces light rum or golden rum
½ lime or 3/4 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
1 teaspoon sugar
In a cocktail mixer, pour sugar and lime juice and mix till sugar dissolves completely. Now add the rum and fill the rest of the mixer with ice and shake for 10 seconds.
