SCIENTISTS BET ON THE FUTURE OF PSYCHEDELIC MEDICINE

by admin

OVERVIEW
Research by scientists suggests that this type of psychedelic medicine could open the door to new treatments in LSD, psilocybin, and MDMA. All these investigations would lead to the creation of drugs to treat common illnesses, including depression, if administered correctly and under medical supervision.
One of the main researches in this field was Alexander Shulgin’s book in 1990. Shulgin began his journey discovering molecules with totally unknown effects on the body and even the human mind. He took inspiration from all psychedelic drugs like psilocybin mushrooms, and LSD. This chemist began creating and describing hundreds of chemical compounds invented and tested by him, including his wife Ann and his friends.

Many people have correct answers about the terms and definitions of LSD, MDMA, and even psilocybin. Practically anyone asked what LSD stands for would reply that it stands for lysergic acid, and MDMA is the substance derived from amphetamine. Instead, when people hear about psilocybin, they think of a compound found in hallucinogenic mushrooms. And as we mentioned previously, all the answers would be totally correct. However, all these substances act strongly on the central nervous system. Therefore, they modify any type of consciousness and behavior that can be had at the moment.
Generally, anyone would warn against using these types of substances, as they could cause dangerous episodes of psychosis, cardiac complications, seizures, and any other negative effects. However, this is where the difference in this study comes in; therefore, some scientists might give a completely different answer. They could give verdicts that this type of drug is even used to treat anorexia nervosa, depression, anxiety disorder, drug addiction, and even post-traumatic stress. All this is based on investigations that are being carried out by scientists who give this type of verdict.
